The ‘baseline’ scenario provides rotavirus emissions on an average day for approximately the year 2015.

  • Rotavirus incidence is constant over the country and based on the literature.

  • Urban and rural population for the year 2015 have been taken from UBOS (link www.ubos.org). Emissions have been distributed over a gridded population dataset from Landscan (link to landscan data).

  • Use of sanitation types (fraction of the population connected to a sewer or practicing open defecation) for the year 2015 has been taken from the ministries of Water and the Environment, and Health. For this study, pits and septic tanks have not been taken into account. We are improving the model to include these and new outputs should be available soon.

  • Treatment fractions have been assumed based on data from NWSC I need to double check this with Dan. Pond systems are most used in Uganda and we assume a 95% reduction in these systems, following the literature. In the future the reduction will be taken from the Pathogen Flow Tool.
