The ‘low emissions’ scenario provides rotavirus emissions on an average day for approximately the year 2030 in a scenario in which the population increases and the focus will be on safe wastewater management.

  • Rotavirus incidence is constant over the country and the same as in 2015.

  • Urban and rural population increases by 58%.

  • Use of sanitation types (fraction of the population connected to a sewer or practicing open defecation) is improving, with an increase in people connected to sewers compared to 2015, an increase in the fraction of the population using onsite systems and eradication of open defecation in urban areas.

  • Treatment fractions are improving, with a limited untreated fraction and more stabilisation ponds and increases in primary, and in several cases secondary treatment. Treatment efficiency for specific systems does not improve.
